Welcome to Part Two of the photos from the Chapel Hill Comics Grand Opening and Halloween Party!

Magic Shaun works the crowd.

The aforementioned crowd.

Magic Shaun working his, well, his magic! Photo by Selena Beckman-Harned.

How did he do that?

Heather helps Shaun with a trick.

Magic Shaun takes time for a photo with the Brothers Neal. Astute observers will notice that by this point in the evening, the Beast has turned into a prince comic book man. Photo by Jacob Neal.

Meanwhile, our witch has transformed into a masked bandit. Here she is getting ready to steal Luke from an Obama yard sign! Photo by Jacob Neal.

The High Dollar Hot Dogs!

This was a great performance. They had lots of folks singing along with them on Folsom Prison Blues.

Here’s a view from further back!

And even further back! Preparations for the costume contest are underway. Photo by Eric Knisley.

Eager costume contest participants waiting for their chance at the stage. Photo by Selena Beckman-Harned.

Meanwhile, Hillary is doing some research she maybe should’ve done a while back. Photo by Selena Beckman-Harned.

During the kids’ costume contest, we listen to what Yotsuba has to say.

The contestants make their cases while I keep on truckin’. Photo by Selena Beckman-Harned.

This would be the party where I was momentarily deafened by the applause for Tiny Batman, the resounding winner of the costume contest! Second prize went to the Doctor, and third was a tie between the Klingon and Jango Fett. Photo by Selena Beckman-Harned.

One photo of Tiny Batman is never enough.

Man, Hillary is Creepy there, huh? You can’t see her outfit in this photo, unforunately, but Obama Yard Sign took the prize for best adult costume! Sub Zero and Scorpion placed second, and Harley and Ivy were third. Photo by Charlotte Walton.

Snowglobe Explosion bring it. These guys put on a great show as well!

More Snowglobe Explosion. Photo by Jacob Neal.

Frankie, Amelia, and Keith, who all made off with good stuff in the Scream if you Want Free Stuff part of the evening.

Buddies!

Some late-night ghoulish arrivals receive their free Halloween Comics from my favorite pirate (formerly a bandit [formerly a witch]) (Anyone in costume who didn’t get Halloween Comics, just let us know!)

The Pagan Hellcats Take the stage for the last performance of the evening.

Dave the Mailman!

The crowd starts to head home. Bye, Ben! Photo by Jacob Neal.

Half the current staff of Chapel Hill Comics checking things out.

After the party ends, the bros bro for a few minutes. What a great party! Photo by Jacob Neal.
There you have it, folks! I hope these photos convey some of the excellence of the party if you didn’t make it. Don’t cry if you couldn’t come, though, we’ve got more great events coming up in the future! Click Here to check out the first batch of photos!

Hey there!
Thanks for checking out the photos from our Grand Opening (and Halloween) Party! We had a great time! Photos were taken by Andrew Neal, Vanessa Neal, or Erin Spectacular for Chapel Hill Comics except where noted. Check it out:

The front of the store, all ready for action. Photo by Charlotte Walton.

The sandwich board which proclaimed our partious intent. Photo by Charlotte Walton.

You can’t have a big party like this without balloons! Photo by Charlotte Walton.

Pumpkins carved by my brother and me. Creepy, huh? Photo by Charlotte Walton.

Kitty came down from the stage to make room for the performers. Photo by Eric Knisley.

Some of the treats provided by our good friends at Adhouse, Dark Horse, DC, Marvel, and free copies of Eric Knisley’s 24-Hour Comic, which was created in this very room the week before!

Mmmmmm. Cupcakes provided by Sugarland!

Folks grub down on food provided by Mediterranean Deli. Photo by Jacob Neal.

Maxing, relaxing. Mingling, chewing. Photo by Jacob Neal.

A lovely witch greets folks as they enter, and Snake and Bacon (Stars of Tales Designed to Thrizzle) pose for a photo op!

The witch meets a young pupil from Hogwart’s.

Grapes and a, well, animal? Ma’am, could you turn around?

No, that doesn’t exactly clarify things. She’s definitely a mammal, though!

Chapel Hill Comics alumnus Matt talks it out with our pal JKD.

A Klingon and a grown man read comics. If Kirk had tried this, he wouldn’t have had nearly as much trouble out of those Klingons. Photo by Jacob Neal.

Thalia, Amelia, A dude who just popped into the picture from nowhere, and Erin!

Just to let you know: if you ever see Sub-Zero and Scorpion hanging out somewhere, get them to breakdance for you. It’s worth it.

Mister Babbit came dressed as your humble narrator, which was hilarious. We all knew who he was immediately. It was probably the intelligent look he affected, or maybe the rock hard abs.

And since there couldn’t be two Andrew Neals at the same party, this Andrew Neal put on his Beast suit. Photo by Charlotte Walton.

Supergirl! Photo by Eric Knisley.

Mister Rogers, Sarah Palin, Jason, and Wordgirl! What a lovely family!

Ever since we moved onto Franklin Street we’ve gotten a lot more of those football fans!

The Beast and Jack work it out in a civilized fashion rather than resorting to violence.

The High Dollar Hot Dogs, caught discussing their plans for their show later than evening.

Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn arrive!

Ethan Wenberg draws a Zombie Caricature of a baby. Yep, just another day at Chapel Hill Comics! Photo by Selena Beckman-Harned.

Heather and Annie (from Time After Time, where we get all our costumes!) Annie shows off her Zombicature.
Wow, that was great, and we haven’t even gotten into the performances yet. Click Here to check out the next batch of photos!

Friday night I was the guest at DSI Comedy Theater in Carrboro for their Mister Diplomat show, where their guest tells stories, and the comedians use the stories as a basis for their improvisational comedy. I’ve done the show four times now, and it’s always a lot of fun!
Check out the new blue Chapel Hill Comics T-Shirt! They look great, huh ?

Hey folks,
As though you haven’t been bombarded with enough email newsletters from Chapel Hill Comics this week (WE ARE MOVING THIS WEEKEND), here’s another to let you know that I will be the special guest at DSI Comedy’s Mister Diplomat Show on Friday, August 29 at 9:30 pm!
The way it works is this: I will get up on stage and talk. The Mister Diplomat team will then politely escort me off stage, then perform hilarious skits based on my monologue. They’re so funny they will make you think I was funny, and ADMISSION IS FREE.
I’ve done this three or four times now, and it’s always a lot of fun. Please come out if you have the time!
Note to parents: the language in these performances can get pretty raw, especially when I tell stories about my Dad, so it’s probably not a good show for kids.

Hello there,
If you’ve ever wanted to see your local comic book man tell stories on stage and then watch highly trained improvisational actors do skits based loosely upon his ramblings, you’re lucky indeed!
This Friday, December 7, you’ll be able to see Andrew Neal tell stories about his Dad, or his cat, or maybe that guy he knew in college at the DSI Comedy Theatre in Carrboro, which the fine staff of Mister Diplomat will then translate into humor.
I’ve done this twice before, and it’s been very entertaining! I hope those of you who like the funny stuff will come out!
Mention “Seeds of Evil” at the door for $2 off the ticket price.

Hey everybody,
This is just a last minute note that if you want to see your local comic book man (me!) as a special guest at DSI Comedy’s Mister Diplomat event, you can do it tonight at 9:30 pm!
Here’s how it works:
Mister Diplomat features real stories, monologues, told by a local celebrity. Those anecdotes provide inspiration for a world of absurd scenes, fully improvised by North Carolina’s most aggressive improv comedians.
I’ve done this before, and it’s very funny! If you’re interested, check out the DSI website or their Mister Diplomat Page!
EVERY FRIDAY @ 930PM
$10, $8 with valid Student ID
Box Office: 919/338-8150
Thanks,
Andrew Neal

If you have been lying awake at night wondering when you’d have the opportunity to see me on stage, recounting anecdotes from my life, so that a bunch of comedians can do skits based on those anecdotes, rejoice! That time draws near!
This Friday, October 13 at 9:30 PM, I’ll be the special “celebrity” guest at DSI Comedy Theatre in Carrboro. The event is called Mister Diplomat. I’ve never been to one of these things, so I don’t know what I’m in for!
Come check it out!
