Chapel Hill Comics is proud to announce a signing for Ursula Vernon’s new book, Dragonbreath. In Dragonbreath, Ursula Vernon uses both comic panels and text to tell the story of Danny Dragonbreath, the only mythical dragon in a school for reptiles and Amphibians.

It’s a fun read, with appealing, whimsical art, and great for kids, but you don’t have to take our word for it! Kirkus gave Dragonbreath a starred review which stated: “…Danny D’s first outing will leave readers in stitches– and on tenterhooks waiting for the next one…”
Ursula’s books are no stranger to praise. Oprah’s Book Club included Ursula’s previous book, Nurk: The Strange, Surprising Adventures of a (Somewhat) Brave Shrew, on its Kids Reading List for kids 10 to 12 years old!

We’re very pleased to host Ursula for this signing. She’s an excellent writer and artist, and is creating books for young readers, the most important readers out there!
Ursula will sign copies of Dragonbreath and Nurk at Chapel Hill Comics in downtown Chapel Hill on Saturday, June 27, from 1pm until 3pm. Bring your kids, pick up copies of these acclaimed books, and get them signed by the author!
Thanks,
Andrew Neal

Chapel Hill Comics is proud to present one of the fine comics created at our third annual 24 Hour Comic Day event on October 18, 2008!
Doctor Rational and Muldoon the Mystic in… FIGHT SCENE
by Eric Knisley
Eric completed the 24 pages of his comic in under 20 hours. For those of you who are interested in the technique of a 24 Hour Cartoonist, he pencilled all the pages first, then went back and inked them. The result was impressive, to say the least! Astute readers may notice that there are only 23 image files, but that’s because pages 12 and 13 are a double page spread! Enjoy!

Thanks,
Andrew Neal

We’ll announce when they are available, but for now, let these pages whet your appetite! All images are copyright 2007 Saul Zimet.

We now present in its entirety, Joe the Reluctant Swashbuckling Stick-Man, by 9-year old Kevin M. Collins! Kevin accidentally skipped page 21, but he did produce a cover, and may in fact produce another page from home. Either way, 23 + the cover is 24, so Kevin was the first person to finish the challenge this year! The comic is copyright 2007 Kevin M. Collins!
Enjoy:

Here’s my 24-page comic from 24 Hour Comics Day! I’m very happy with the way it turned out, considering the time limitations. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out information on the event here!)
