Sad Animals on display in Chapel Hill Comics, from our 2008 Holiday Gift Guide.

We’re happy to announce another signing at Chapel Hill Comics: Adam Meuse, Creator of the runaway minicomic hit, Sad Animals! If you are one of the hundred or so folks who have picked up a copy of Sad Animals from us, come and get it signed. If you haven’t seen it yet, then come by and pick up a copy! It’s just four bucks, and I can’t recommend it highly enough for fans of offbeat humor!  Adam will also have copies of a new comic to debut at the signing! The new comic is called Social Insect, and here’s the cover!

Looks awesome.  I’m about to take my advance copy home and read it.  I’m excited!

CHAPEL HILL, NC, MARCH 18, 2009 – Adam Meuse makes it fun to be sad with Sad Animals, his collection of….well, drawings of sad animals. And Chapel Hill Comics is thrilled to help inflict Meuse’s hilarious sadness on an unsuspecting public with a special signing on April 4.

Chapel Hill Comics owner Andrew Neal called Sad Animals “One of the best books of 2008.” “We sold more copies of this mini-comic in 2008 than anything except the Obama comic biography,” Neal says. “It’s the type of thing that people notice, pick up, flip through, and then burst out laughing.”

The Cary-based Meuse has earned a loyal following from Sad Animals, a look at human nature through the eyes of animals who are a little too aware of the absurdity of their lives. It’s a sweet, sometimes touching look at how life can get us down…and what the animals around you are really thinking.

Hey, folks!  We’re proud to announce our next event at Chapel Hill Comics: a signing with Ken Marcus, the creator of Super Human Resources, published by Ape Entertainment!

Work sucks…even if you’re working with superheroes. Comic fans can find out why when Chapel Hill Comics celebrates the new series Super Human Resources with a special signing by creator Ken Marcus.

Ever wonder who arranges for the Batmobile’s oil to get changed, or for the cleanup after throwdown with a supervillain? Why, the HR department at Super Crises International, that’s who!

In Super Human Resources, we enter the bizarre world of Tim the Temp, who’s just started a new gig at SCI. But between Zombor, the (literally) brain-dead receptionist, the highly-inappropriate hero Wombat and Roger, the boss who might well be an aspiring supervillian, Tim’s going to find surviving an office job isn’t as easy as it looks.

Written by Marcus and illustrated by Justin Bleep, Super Human Resources has already earned raves by many top industry professionals, who’ve called it “very funny” (Ben 10 co-creator Joe Kelly) and “the single most entertaining comic book you’ll ever read” (Diamond Previews).

Ken Marcus will be at Chapel Hill comics from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 28. Get in on the new series everyone will be talking about – and say hi to the creator while you’re there!  The first issue is on the racks now, so come pick it up early so you can tell Ken what you thought of it while he signs your copy!
